They know their football at Pompallier (Kaitaia) and Ahipara Primary schools, but there were varying predictions for the All Whites' vs Paraguay yesterday.
Ryan Johnson (Pompallier and Kaitaia rep) had thought the Kiwis would lose to Italy, and expects them to be "wasted" 7-3 by Paraguay, while Brazil will win the Cup.
Teammate and fellow rep Sage Watson thought the draw against Italy was cool, even if the Azzurri hadn't deserved their penalty. He was picking a win against Paraguay and agreed that the Cup belongs to Brazil.
Ricky Cassidy was expecting a draw, or perhaps a 1-2 loss tomorrow, and didn't have a clue who was going to win the tournament.
The Ahipara Stonecraft under-11s agreed that the All Whites were going well, although one, who perhaps knows more about football than geography, noted knowledgeably that New Zealand had never been successful against an African team.
Maaka Mason's own side hadn't lost a game so far this season so he knew how it felt to be going well, the aspiring All White rating his fellow goalie Mark Paston as having played a good game against Italy.
Maaka, Hannah Wetzel and Rowena Bakke were all picking Chile to win the Cup, Hannah predicting a close result against Paraguay.
She said she'd love to be an All White one day, but suspected that girls are not eligible.
Rowena had most faith in the All Whites, picking a 4-2 win tomorrow morning.
